Yeah, it was about as bad as it gets. After Joe gagged it on Thursday night, the town’s folk are out with their pitchforks and torches—and that’s just the New York Times. On Friday, Joe rallied at a rally, but it still doesn’t make up for his performance, or lack thereof, in the debate. Trump fed him so many fat pitches to hit out of the park, yet he whiffed on every one.
Now we have to leave it to Jill and his tight inner circle to give him the thumbs up or down on whether to proceed. If I had to bet, I’d put money on the Ruth Bader Ginsburg outcome. Maybe Chris Wallace is correct when he said:
“You can’t come back from that. You can’t be on a stage where tens of millions of Americans are watching you and come up empty,” Wallace said. “And that’s what he did tonight.”
Stay tuned. In the meantime, take a side trip and read Bill Maher’s new book, “What This Comedian Said Will Shock You”. Better yet, listen to him narrate it on Audible. He catches it from the left and the right, but he’s always been my north star speaking truth to power with a healthy mix of my kind of humor. I highly recommend it for those of you wanting to turn your gaze away from the train wreck we just witnessed and still stay in the game.
I’ll be back the week after next with a major update on the FTC’s response to Senator Kaine’s letter on my behalf. In the meantime, be safe, and have faith that we will ultimately prevail.
