That hearing was a display of disgusting showmanship. I know it must have cost Dr Fauci a piece of his soul to not speak out. How do the scales balance over one million Americans dying of the disease against how many died from the vaccine? No comparison. The man in the big house, senators and the rest of them, good "Christians" they say, demean everything about our government, use the foulest language, rile up anger and violence, make us all less safe. Tuesday is a Virginia primary. Get out and vote. You don't have to be a party member. But it does let you contribute towards choosing what candidate you do get to vote for in November.
💯 These same men who got upset bc a woman was tased for not following policy … do nothing as thousands of people are kidnapped beaten abused murdered for being the wrong skin color. They are not men but cowards and the worst the world could offer.
Jim, appreciate you engaging even though we clearly see this differently. A couple of things worth clarifying.
First, it’s Rand Paul, not Ron — Ron’s his father, long retired. Rand’s been after Fauci since 2021, well before this hearing. Four years of hearings, subpoenas, and a self-published “investigation” that’s produced plenty of headlines and zero actual findings of wrongdoing. That’s the backstory I’d have included if I were writing a legal brief instead of a gut reaction to watching an 85-year-old man get dragged in front of cameras again.
On the Fifth: pleading it isn’t an admission of guilt, it’s what any competent lawyer tells a client walking into a hearing explicitly designed to manufacture a perjury trap. Paul has spent years building a narrative around cherry-picked diary entries; answering “truthfully” in that room gets twisted no matter what he says. Silence isn’t fear of the truth. It’s refusing to hand ammunition to people who’ve already decided the verdict.
And yeah, I cursed. I make no apology for it. Fauci helped save millions of lives, including, statistically, probably yours. Watching him hunted for it by men who wouldn’t know a peer-reviewed study if it bit them earns a few four-letter words in my book. That’s not naiveté on my end — it’s having watched this unfold for four years and knowing exactly what it is.
Andy, if that disgraceful travesty and outrageous abuse of process by Rand Paul DOESN'T have you cursing, you're either a saint or braindead. Keep on swearing, Brother. Some things require, DEMAND, nothing less.
My guess that Fauci took the 5th is because he could not convincingly justify today what he wrought yesterday.
Toward that end, I wish Rep. Paul would have made clear the purpose of his inquiry, perhaps by observing among his intentions would have been to ask Fauci what, if anything, he would do differently today and why.
In retrospect, the shutdowns, arrests for defying authorities and other draconian acts by governments worldwide strike me as gross overreactions.
FYI: After the initial hoopla died down, I never again wore a mask nor ever had a Covid shot.
And yeah, I continue to wish you could vent your exasperations, most of which I share and the rest which I understand, without the foul language.
Then please send your me remarks only when they use just provocative not profane language. I enjoy mightily the former style when you deign to employ it.
B P C -- I also have never had a flu shot; don't eat meat, drink hard liquor or approve of governments that hobble Free Markets which the socialists in the Democratic Party are now foolishly championing and I strongly support Andy's sensible mission
And you say all of that with braggadocio, which, once again, makes clear that you are actually proud of practicing a rational (e.g., no meat, minimal liquor intake) intermingled with an irrational (no flu shot, no COVID vaccines) lifestyle. But above all else, the comment about socialism is sweepingly simplistic. Public schools? Socialism. Publicly funded roads? Socialism. Emergency calls to 911? Socialism - unless your local PD and FD hand you an invoice when they respond.
Andy's Fight is SO overwhelmingly righteous that being behind it SHOULD be a no-brainer. The only reasons that it's not are money, greed and blatant stupidity. Standing behind Andy while distancing yourself from modern science and medicine is illogical at best and bipolar at worst.
BTW, my Irish-Catholic immigrant grandmother ate handsful of candy daily and drank with frequency, and yet she lived to 94. Not exactly a recipe for a long life. Merely anecdotal testament to how randomly mercurial life can be.
Brian, You have a good heart. For that reason, let me clarify my disdain for socialism. Foremost, it doesn't work. Wherever its been implemented, its failed.
Its most colossal failure occurred in 1992 when, after 70 years of trying, the USSR threw in the towel; it collapsed. I happened to be there (in Leningrad) when it did.
Here's its standard definition: Socialism empowers the government to control the means of production and distribution of goods and services, e. g. government apparatchiks decide what to make and sell to its citizens
In our Free Market economy, citizens decide what to make and sell. They use the government to provide services (e. g. school, roads, 911 calls, etc.) for which they pay (mostly with tax remittances but for some schools -- religious ones predominantly -- with their checkbooks; not their taxes)
Democracies and Socialism are incompatible. The current mayor of NYC is a glib wealth-taker. He's never made a dime's worth of wealth in his life. Very simply stated: no wealth; nothing to tax.
Finally, with some exceptions, I partake liberally of the medicines and procedures produced by modern science.
And my quip about COVID was intended to be jocular, not boastful
Jimm, Dr. Fauci helped prevent millions from dying of Aids and Covid. He has worked with and been respected by several presidents. I’m sorry you don’t think saving so many lives doesn’t give you a dog in this fight. I detect a lack of empathy there.

I don't have a dog in this fight
Consequently, I would have preferred somewhere in your profanity laden defense of Dr Fauci why Ron Paul is investigating him.
What exactly has caused Rep. Paul to suspect something nefarious of Dr Fauci?
Pity too that he was counseled to invoke the 5th to every single query.
It makes people like me wonder why he's fearful of answering questions about his role during the COVID crisis.
You would think that an 85 year old professional would have no fear responding truthfully to at least some of the questions.

Though we don't know one another, Jimm, the fact that you never had a COVID shot says a lot about you. It's not complimentary.
